Urocalun, a commonly used drug to promote the expulsion of kidney and ureteral stones, has a good overall safety profile but may still cause some side effects.

(1) According to clinical trial data in Japan, digestive system reactions are relatively common.

(2) In double-blind controlled trials, the incidence of gastrointestinal disorders was 17.0% (9/53 cases).

(3) Additionally, some patients may experience stomach discomfort, bloating, or diarrhea.

2. Other common side effects

(1) Thirst: incidence of 15.1%.

(2) Constipation: incidence of 11.3%.

(3) Skin reactions: rash, redness, itching, urticaria may occur, with an incidence between 0.1% and 5%.

3. Overall incidence of side effects

(1) In double-blind controlled trials, the overall incidence of side effects in the drug administration group was 35.8% (19/53 cases).

(2) It should be noted that the above frequency data include the results from capsule formulations.

II. Ways to alleviate the side effects of Urocalun

1. Managing digestive discomfort

(1) Stomach discomfort, bloating: It is recommended to take the drug after meals to reduce direct irritation to the gastric mucosa.

(2) Diarrhea: Ensure adequate fluid and electrolyte intake to avoid dehydration. If diarrhea persists or worsens, consult a doctor.

2. Relieving thirst

(1) During medication, increase water intake frequency appropriately. Drinking small amounts frequently not only relieves thirst but also helps promote stone expulsion.

(2) It is recommended to maintain a daily water intake of 2-3 liters.

3. Managing constipation

(1) Increase dietary fiber intake, such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

(2) Moderate exercise to promote intestinal peristalsis.

(3) If constipation is severe, use mild laxatives under a doctor's guidance.

4. Managing skin reactions

(1) If rash, itching, or urticaria occurs, stop taking the drug and seek medical attention promptly.

(2) Do not scratch the affected area to avoid infection.

5. When to stop the drug and seek medical attention

(1) Once abnormal symptoms are detected, discontinue administration and consult a doctor.

(2) Most side effects resolve spontaneously after stopping the drug.

III. Storage requirements for Urocalun

1. Protect from moisture after opening

(1) After opening, the drug should not be stored in a humid environment.

(2) Moisture may cause the tablets to deteriorate or degrade the active ingredients.

2. Storage of bottle-packed drugs

(1) After using the bottle packaging, the cap must be tightened to prevent air and moisture from entering.

(2) The bottle usually contains a desiccant; do not remove it.

3. Environments to avoid

(1) Hot and humid places (e.g., bathroom, kitchen).

(2) Places exposed to direct sunlight.

(3) Areas within reach of children.

4. Packaging specification note
